Snowman Selfies with The Hedgehog Hollow

Hello friends!

Guess what? I'm so excited to announce that I am a Guest Designer for The Hedgehog Hollow this month! They have such adorable things and I had a lot of fun playing with the November Subscription Box. The stamps were super adorable and I know I will use them time and time again.

For my first creation, I wanted to created a cute "Polaroid Camera" scene using the Christmas characters. I chose the reindeer and the snowman - they wanted to make a selfie together! So that's what we did!

I had a cute polaroid style die in my stash that worked perfect! I cut out some white cardstock and used the stencil from the subscription box to add dimension to the outside of the frame. I set it aside to dry and started on my cute images.

I stamped them onto a piece of white cardstock that was die cut from the center of my polaroid die. I wanted them "peeking" in, so I slightly offset them.  I used my Nuvo Marker Pens to color them images, and added a touch of the Sparkle Dust to Rudolph's Nose!  When I looked through the cute patterned papers that were included in the kit, this black and white polka dot paper stood out to me for the background because it kind of looked like a snow storm!  Of course, I had to grab my White & Ivory Seashell to make some texture dots on the "snowflakes" and the frame.

I had so much fun creating this adorable scene card! I hope you liked it too!

If you want to see more of what was included in my box, you can check out my unboxing video:

Thanks for watching and stopping by today!  I hope you enjoyed my card. I will have a video tutorial for you next week, so stay tuned!

Until then,
xoxo

Aster Garden - Light Version

Hello friends!

Today I'm sharing a May Reveal Card for SparkleNSprinkle!  As you recall, last week I shared my Dark Version of the Aster Garden Stamp Set. Well, this week I have the opposite! I created a "Light Version" as well!

First up (like always!)....my SparkleNSprinkle Supply List:

Onto the card tutorial!

So, this was another "Mixed Media" project for me...and it started with PHOTO PAPER!  Yes, shiny, glossy photo paper. I used a 4.25x11 sheet of paper to start with (I knew I was going to make multiple cards from this background!  I grabbed my brand new Nuvo Shimmer Powder in Atlantis Burst and started to play! First, I misted the photo paper with water and then I sprinkled on my Shimmer Powder!  Look at how it reacts with the water!  You don't need much - it is highly concentrated!  You can grab an Aqua Painter brush and move the powder around too (like watercolor!).

You can see in these photos how I moved the color around!

This was the dried effect:

I also sprayed on some Nuvo Mica Mist in Turkish Rose! SOoo pretty!

Next, I used my Nuvo Masking Fluid!  This stuff is pretty cool. You literally drop it wherever you want the color to remain underneath (hence, the MASK!). Set it aside to let it dry, then you can layer whatever you want on top. You will then peel off the mask (it's a latex type product so it will just pull off when dry). Pretty cool!

Dripping the Masking Fluid on!

This is the dried Masking Fluid - you can see how it turned more clear and rubber looking!

I took my Fresh Pear Mica Mist and sprayed that over top of everything.

Then I simply peeled off the "masks" :)

PHEW!  That was a lot of photos - but I really wanted to showcase the background!  It was so much fun to make!

The rest of the card came together quite quickly. I embossed the Asters using Versamark Ink and Gold Detail Embossing Powder. I took another piece of white cardstock and embossed the Aster one more time with Versamark Ink and Magic Speckle Embossing Powder! SOO pretty! The sentiment was stamped with Versamark Ink and Gold Detail Embossing Powder.  I randomly sprinkled on more Magic Speckle Embossing Powder and heat from underneath - giving a more random look and feel. A light wash of the Atlantis Burst Shimmer Powder was added on the seniment as well!  I used Black Cardstock to back all the white layers and 1/4" Tear-ific Tape to hold everything together.

Finally, Nuvo Glitter Drops in Sunlit Meadow and Blue Lagoon were added to accent everything. Prepare yourself for more photos! :)

SOOO - I hope you like this photo loaded tutorial!  Remember to comment both HERE and on the main SNS Blog Post too to be entered in our monthly contest!

Thanks for stopping by!  I appreciate all of your comments!
See you soon,

Jess

Aster Garden - SparkleNSprinkle

Hello sparkly friends!

I'm bringing you a BRAND NEW stamp set today from SparkleNSprinkle - and our entire Design Team is just in love with it!  It's called "Aster Garden" by Beverly Cole Art. It's sooo dreamy!!!  Two of my DT Cards feature this stamp this month! Sooo....let's get crafting!!

SNS Supply List:

This spectacular dark card starts with the base of the Craft Perfect Mirror Cardstock in Satin Finish Black Velvet. It's an A2 size card.  I stamped the images using Versamark Ink and embossed with the White Detail Embossing Powder. A good idea is to swipe your mirror cardstock gently with an Anti-Static Bag first - it will eliminate the flyaway embossing powder!  As you can see, my finished card is quite abstract, so the little specks didn't matter....however, if you are looking for a clean look, the Anti-Static Bag is a must have.  Once the images were heat set, I grabbed my NEW Nuvo Brilliantely Vibrant Watercolor Pencils.  I wanted a hint of color to the images, so I just lightly colored overtop of my white embossing powder. To blend the colors, I used an Aquapainter water brush to move the color around. So simple!

P.S. - how GORGEOUS are these images???

Ok - now that we've watercolored, it's time to get messy!  GASP!  Jess is getting messy on a card? You read that right!  I grabbed my Magic Speckle Embossing Powder and lightly/randomly sprinkled it over top of my images and cardstock. I heat set it from UNDERNEATH the cardstock (obviously if you use the heat tool on top you will just blow all the powder away!). Be gentle and patient so you don't burn your paper (yep...I've done this before! LOL).  I LOVE the pearlescent look that Magic Speckle leaves!

I did the same process with the Super Thick Gold Embossing Powder. Told ya I was going to get messy!!

I really wanted to add some extra color to the Honey Blooms - so I sprayed them with a mist of water and CAREFULLY sprinkled on the Atlantis Burst Shimmer Powder (don't squeeze to hard!  The super fine powder comes out easily - you don't need much!).  I just TAPPED on the bottom of the container.

The sentiment was stamped with Versamark Ink and embossed with Gold Detail Embossing Powder. I did the same technique as the background to add the random embossing powder. All the layers were adhered with 1/4" Tear-ific Tape!  I even applied the flowers using it!  I just ball it up like a thick glue dot!  The final accents were Glitter Drops in Aqautic Mist and Blue Lagoon!

I hope you love this card and I encourage you to "get messy" next time you create!!!

Have a great day!

SparkleNSprinkle - From Christmas to Lanterns

Hello friends!

It's time for our April 2018 New Stamp Reveal over at SparkleNSprinkle!  I'm so excited to share that  in addition to the Sponsorship & Challenge Coordinator Position, I have also taken on a new role for SparkleNSprinkle - Design Team Coordinator! Lots of new challenges to take on and I am just so darn excited!!!

Onto this first Reveal card!  I just LOVED the Christmas Baubles Stamp Set, but couldn't bear to make a Christmas card yet.....soooo, I figured I would go outside the box!  After looking closely at the stamps, I realized I could turn them into lanterns!  Genius! (I sometimes have those moments you know - hahaha!). You would never know by looking at this card that it was made from a Christmas set!  Think outside the box ;)  I was super excited to that the FANTASTIC Demo Donna chose to use my card as the inspiration for our April Video Kit Club!!!

First up....let's talk about the Supply List:

Onto the card!

First things first - let's stamp!  I inked up the baubles with Versamark Ink and randomly stamped them onto my white cardstock. I sprinkled on Black Detail Embossing Powder and heat set. Then I grabbed all my BRAND NEW Nuvo Marker Pens!  You will have to forgive me for not writing down all the exact colors I used! I'm new to the whole "alcohol marker" thing - so I promise in the future to write down the numbers as I use them! I linked you above in the supply list to one of the sets - simply search from there for all 20+ sets! They blended really nicely and I can't wait to share more artwork that I made with them! So much fun - and I love that they come in a 3 pack at a time - I don't have to invest in 300 markers to get some nice blends! WIN WIN!

Aren't the colors pretty? I simply fussy cut them out to create the "lanterns". :)

Onto the BACKGROUND!!  This part was easy peasy - I simply grabbed my Nuvo Aquaflow Pens in Yellow & Green (from the Spring and Summer collections) and did a freehand wash over the background. No over thinking - just splash it on! I wanted it to feel like a sunset or lazy summer day style background. I figured I need some sort of "fauna" in the background, so I grabbed an oldie, but goodie - the Wetlands 2 Stamp Set!  As you can see, I stamped 2 of the images with Versamark, then heat embossed with the new (and GORGEOUS) Timber Embossing Powder. So pretty!  (NOTE: I ended up covering this image with my sentiment in the end - ooops! BUT I wanted you to see the gorgeous tones and colors of this new Embossing Powder!).

A layer of 1/2" Tear-ific Tape was added around another piece of white cardstock, and  to this I sprinkled on the Spring Willow Embossing Powder - heat setting of course!! I wanted a bit of a border for my panel. SOOO light and pretty. You will love this powder.

For my Sentiment, I grabbed the BRAND NEW Nuvo Shimmer Powder in Atlantis Burst. These are similar to the Colorburst Powders - but have sooo much sparkle and dimension to them!  I sprinkled some onto my acrylic block and "painted" it on with a painter pen.  So pretty - and look at the ombre effect I was able to create! You are definitely going to want some of these in your stash ASAP!

I actually grabbed my scissors and "doctored" up this stamp set for my sentiment!  I carefully cut apart the "Celebrate" word from the entire sentiment and just used this portion. I love this part about rubber stamps!  I can still use all the words together in the future too! I used the Timber Embossing Powder on the sentiment too :)

All the layers were adhered with Tear-ific Tape of course!  I hand drew in the "lantern rope" using a Nuvo Caligraphy Pen. Nuvo Glitter Drops in Honey Gold and Nuvo Crystal Drops in Morning Dew were used to embellish the card.

I hope you LOVE this card - it was a TON of fun to create!  I can't wait to share the rest of my cards with you this month - stay tuned!! There are some really pretty things to come - and lots more coloring to do!!

See ya soon!

Jess
