MHKDesigns - May 2018 Challenge

Hello friends!

It's the first of the month which would usually mean it's time for a new challenge at MHKDesigns, and also for a new set release.  But sadly, Mynn, the very talented owner of MHKDesigns (plus, she makes the most amazing cards!) has made the very tough decision to close the blog. The Etsy store will remain open for the time being at least, but nothing new will be added.  Her focus will be dedicated to being the most amazing teacher to some pretty lucky kiddos!!

The news came as a surprise to myself and the rest of the Design Team, but it's a decision we totally support.  And because most of us already had our cards created for today, we've decided to instead make it a blog hop to say thank you to Mynn for all she's done for us.   I'm also sharing a few other cards I had previously created for the next few months - I hope you enjoy them!

Here are 3 cards I created using the stamp set called "Majestic Medallion" (which was to be the May New Release!):

Here is what I created:

Card #1

I watercolored the image and added some Nuvo Shimmer Powder for extra pizazz!  I also added Morning Dew Crystal Drops. A touch of feminine lace tops of this sweet, encouraging card.

Card #2

I printed off the digi and colored with Nuvo Marker Pens. A few Crystal Drops were added as embellishment and some Nuvo Mica Mist Spray to add a little shimmer!  Some sweet lace accented the background.

Card #3

I printed off the digi and added watercolor wash using a "smoosh" technique! A few Crystal Drops were added as embellishment and some Nuvo Mica Mist Spray to add a little shimmer!  Once again, I added some sweet stretch lace to the  background. This card was a little hard to photograph as it uses a foiled paper background!

MHKDesigns - Designer Inspiration - April 2018

Hello friends!

It's time to share my April  MHKDesigns Designer Inspiration card! I used the new release stamp set called "Caring Crocus" to create this card.

Here is the Handmade Card that I created:

This is another sweet little notecard size (about 4x4.5"). I printed off the digi and watercolored with Nuvo Aqua Flow Pens. A few Crystal Drops were added as embellishment and a bit of twine around the bottom.  I can't wait to give this to someone who needs a little pick me up!

MHKDesigns - April 2018 Challenge

Hello friends!

It's time for a new Monthly Challenge at MHKDesigns!

Here is our Challenge Inspiration:

Here is what I created using the new release stamp set called "Caring Crocus".

This is a sweet little notecard size card!  I used Nuvo Marker Pens (alcohol markers) to color the crocus and then "smooshed" on a mix of Nuvo AquaFlow Watercolors and Nuvo Shimmer Powder.  Nuvo Glitter Drops in gold were added along with a bit of green twine to top off this sweet spring card. The card size is approximately 4x4.5 inches.

MHKDesigns - Designer Spotlight March 2018

Hello friends!

I am really excited to share with you my March Designer Spotlight for MHKDesigns!  This month we are showcasing a beautiful Easter set called "Blessed Lily"

Here is what I created:




I am still loving all things water color, so that is exactly what I did! I printed off the digital image and used my Close to My Heart & SNS Pearlescent Watercolors to color.  Hints of Nuvo Crystal Drops were added to accent the lily.  A little piece of purple lace peeks out from behind the image to give a feminine touch.

MHKDesigns - Sending Love to Dawn

Hello, dear friends! 

Today the MHKDesigners are banding together to tell one of our own dear gals, Dawn Bennett, that we are thinking of her during a difficult time in her life. Dawn recently lost her mother-in-law, and we wanted to let her know how much we care! MHKDesigns - Designer Inspiration January 2018

Hello friends!

It's time to share my first MHKDesigns card for the year! I used the new release "Framed Favorites" to create this card.

Here is the Handmade Card that I created:

I really pushed my creative envelope to create this card. I printed off the digi and watercolored it with Pearlescent Watercolors. I added a TON of accents!  I die cut some vellum shapes, wreaths, circles and glittered shpes and distressed the edges for a "shabby" feel.  I also dug into my stash of paper flowers and went a little floral crazy - but I love how it turned out!  I'm trying to push my talents this year and try styles I don't normally gravitate towards. What do you think?

I chose to feature a new release stamp set from the past year called "Season's Greetings" for my monthly creation! I think this is such a nice vintage set to make all your Christmas cards with, don't you?
