Some "Flirty" Cards! :)

Happy week after Thanksgiving everyone! :)  I hope you all had your fill of turkey and all the trimmings.  My family and I enjoyed a quiet weekend with Chinese takeout instead of the traditional fare, but it was great all the same.  I even managed to squeeze in a little crafting time.

This time around I was playing with a paper pack from Close to My Heart called "Flirty".  Now, this wasn't my most favorite paper pack in the Fall/Winter 2012 catalogue. It was actually the last one on my list. However, I was bound and determined to make myself like it more.  After 6 full 12x12 scrapbook pages, I started on the cards from the Workshop on the Go (the cards were the Bonus Project).  I started with the layouts as provided, but changed up the paper, stamping and embellishments to make them my own.  Here is what I came up with:

All materials are from Close to My Heart with the exception of the "Birthday Wishes" sentiment in the third card (that one is from Stampin' Up!).  I am loving the little word bubble stamps that come with the Cricut® Artiste Collection Cartridge.  You can only get this collection through Close to My Heart Consultants like me!  Check out my website here:

After playing around with this paper packet, I have come to LOVE it! :)  In fact, I have almost used up all of the paper (I still have enough scraps to make a few more cards) and will probably order a second pack! :)  Not bad for being at the bottom of my list to begin with.  It just goes to show you that you can 't always judge a paper pack just by looking at it.  Sometimes you actually have to play around with it to realize it's true potential.

Have a great week everyone!  I am busy preparing for Craft Show season.  Hope to share some new projects with you as I get them completed.  Thanks for stopping by!

Autumn is on the way!

Greetings!

It's starting to really feel like Autumn in my neck of the woods.  The leaves are changing and there is that crispness in the air that I just love.  With the change in weather, it makes me think towards Christmas!  Of course, that will mean tradeshows and vendor fairs.  I will be posting projects as I get to them, but for today I will leave you with a few snaps of what I've been working on.  First up, a quick Birthday card using a paper-pieced owl:

Next, I have been loving working with this new paper from Stampin' Up! called "Storytime":

I even pulled out the sewing machine and stitched the papers with a zig-zag stitch!  "Sew" much fun! hahaha ;)

I belong to a "Kit of the Month" Club from Simon Says Stamp (one of my most favorite suppliers!)  This next sample was made with supplies I received in the kit.  Super cute!  A lot of the time these kits are very outside my "comfort" zone with patterns and themes.  I find it is a great way to stretch my creativity and push myself to try something new!

So, that is all I have for you today!  Thanks for looking...and as always, if you want to see my most recent creations, please follow my page over on Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/freshbyjess

Have a wonderful rest of the week!

Where is the time going???

Wowzers...is it really July 24th already?  Time sure flies in the summer, doesn't it?  Just a small post here to update you with what fresh. by jess has been up to lately :)

With summer here, that means the new release of the Fall/Winter 2012 Close to My Heart Idea Book and Catalogue.  It is AMAZING!  I can't wait to dive in and start creating with 2 of my favorite paper packs - Avonlea and La Belle Vie.

As much as people don't want to hear the word "Christmas" this time of year, I can't help but drift my mind over to designing Christmas Cards already!  I have so many cute ideas forming and I can't wait to start making some of them.

Here is a snapshot of what I have been working on lately....I've been in a "western" themed state of mind :)  The western stamps are from an amazing company called "Waltzingmouse Stamps".  I just love them!  I've also started doing some "vintage" style cards (which is difficult for me because it is wayyyy outside my comfort zone!).   Hope you enjoy!!  Have a wonderful day!

So much to do...so little time!

Hello fellow crafters!  Is it just me, or does inspiration seem to strike when we have the least amount of time possible to craft?  This always happens to me!  The opposite seems to be true as well.  I will sit at my desk with 3 hours of uninterrupted time and get nothing accomplished.  No creative energy seems to flow.  ARGH!  As a mommy of 2 girls under 5, my crafting time seems to be very limited these days.  I think that I need to start carrying a little notebook with me to jot down those creative thoughts when they strike!!!  Have a great day everyone!  I hope to post a few projects this weekend!!!
