Creative Knockouts Challenge #437 & A Health Update

Hello crafty friends!

Well, I decided I needed some excitement in my life (other than my new cancer journey! LOL) so I decided to rejoin the girls over at Creative Knockouts! I always love the team there and I'm so happy to be back.

Yes - I used the big "C" word there - I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in December 2021 and am taking 2022 to heal me up! That means, no working outside the home....BUT, that also means more craft time. I will share a bit here and there with my journey - but just know that I have an amazing medical team and I know I will kick cancer to the curb. :)

So enough of that talk - let's talk crafty stuff!

It's time for a new challenge over at Creative Knockouts Challenge #437. Our theme this week is "Die Cuts & Punches" and our sponsor is  SheepSki Designs
The image I used is Bob Image No 60 - he's so cute!

Here is what I created:

I used a simple heart punch to add extra popped up hearts around Bob. Such a simple, yet effective addition!

I hope to see you at the challenge. Challenges are a great way to bust out of a creative funk - or just to have fun and maybe win a prize or two!

Until next time,

Jess

Ninabrook May Card Kit - Paper Roses

Hello friends and HAPPY 1st day of MAY!

I'm here today to showcase card inspiration for the BRAND NEW Paper Roses Card Kit from Ninabrook.com!

I was so excited to design these beautiful cards. Of course you can add more supplies from your stash (ie. stamps, etc) - but I designed them strictly with kit contents. Oh - and you will have supplies left over too!  So I did make more than 5 cards as I couldn't stop creating once I got going! haha

Here are my cards:

- for this one, I cut the letters from the piece of patterned paper!

- followed the same idea for this card :) Aren't those roses GORGEOUS?

- simple banners/flags and letters along with one of the beautiful cabochons

- Look closely!  There is a beautiful rose cabochon on the bottom rose!

- the lace background paper was one of my favorites in the entire pack

- if you know someone named "Rose" , this card would be PERFECT! :)

I hope inspire you to create with the contents of our newest card kit.  Thanks for stopping by! Remember to grab your kit ASAP as they are LIMITED QUANTITIES. I would love to see what you create!  Tag me on Instagram - you will find me @freshbyjess!

xoxo

Scrapy Land Challenge #93

Hello friends!

Welcome to Scrapy Land {Challenge #93}!  I had a lot of fun creating this bold card!  The flower was cut using the Memory Box Plush Narrow Succulent Dies. I used the dies to cut the Rinea Foiled Paper to create this card. For the sentiment, I used SparkleNSprinkle Dimensional Glue to handwrite onto a piece of acetate. I sprinkled on Rose Gold Glitter and let it dry overnight!  I basically created my own sentiment :) It's a very fun technique!

A little about the Scrapy Land Challenge......

The theme is always ANYTHING GOES using any brand of die that Scrapy Land sells.  In addition, we have TWO WINNERS for each challenge.  One will be a random winner and the other is chosen by the Design Team.  Each winner will receive a generous $10 gift certificate to Scrapy Land.  Did you know Scrapy Land carries over 55 brands of dies? Chances are you have a few of the brands in your stash!

Please link back to this Scrapy Land Challenge and include the link to this challenge on your blog post.  It would also be extremely helpful if you would list the brands of dies used in your project.  (Sometimes we can't tell if an item is a die cut or chipboard.)

I can't wait to see what you create for this challenge.

Good luck!

Southern Ridge Trading Company - Adventures in White

Hello crafty friends!

I'm here today to share with you another Southern Ridge Trading Company Design Team Project!

I used the following Southern Ridge items on this card:

I really had a vision for this card - but it didn't exactly turn out that way!  Originally I was going to do a white on white on white card (I still might eventually!). This one turned out to be white on gold on black on mother of pearl ;) hahaha - soooo not the same thing!  BUT, I LOVE how it turned out. I did have one other issue with this creation - my trusty phone was NOT CHARGED while I created  - so I only have one prep shot (sorry - but I will do my best to explain my steps!).

Step 1 - cover your chipboard pieces in Embossing Powder of choice!
I used Versamark Ink & White Detail Embossing Powder (see supply list at the end of the post!) to cover the swirl. I did 2 coats of the white, and made sure it was well covered.

(the one and only prep photo I took before my phone died! oops).

To color the butterflies, I used Versamark Ink and Super Thick Gold Embossing Powder. After 2 coats, I added a bit more Versamark Ink, then sprinkled on some Magic Speckle Embossing Powder!  I really love how it gives your chipboard a pearlescent/metallic finish! So pretty! To the bottom butterfly, I also sprinkled on some Sparkle Embossing Powder with the Magic Speckle - it gave it a bit more, well SPARKLE! LOL

To finish the card, I added a lot of different bling. I used some rhinestones from my stash, some HAI Round Clear Drops Sequins, Gold Crystal Drops and Fresh Snowfall Glitter Accents.  I stamped my sentiment onto some vellum with Versamark Ink and embossed with Gold Detail Embossing Powder.  My fave adhesive is the Nuvo Deluxed Adhesive, which I used to glue most items down (that along with some foam tape!).

I can't wait to see you all again in two weeks!  Now, head on over to www.chipboard.ca to grab your fave chipboard! :)

Splitcoast Stampers Card Sketch Challenge #691

Hello crafty friends!

I'm excited to share that I have joined the  Splitcoast Stampers Card Sketch Team for the next 6 months!

Each week, there is a brand new sketch out to play along with!

I'm jumping in at Sketch #691.  The sketch was designed by Cathy McCauley:

Here is what I created:

This is an A2 Sized card. I didn't really measure 100% of the cuts, but the middle panel is about 3x5.  I fussy cut out the mermaid girl from some patterned paper and added glitter accents to her hair. Some Nuvo Crystal Drops were added as the accents. Super summery card (trying to forget all the snow! LOL).

I hope you enjoy this card and will head on over to Splitcoast to play along! :)

Have a great day!

Stick It Down - October

Hello friends!

Welcome to another month with Stick It Down!  As a member of the card team, I was excited to create with this month's sketch!

I chose to dive into my stash of October Afternoon goodies - as far as I know, they are not currently making anything new - so I'm being very careful how much of it I use up at a time!  I just adore the vintage line up - so I hope to see them up and running again in the future!

I took some creative liberty with this month's sketch. Here is what we were given:

Here is what I created:

All the patterned paper and accessories were from October Afternoon's 9-5 Collection. The alphabet stickers were from Kelly Purkey.  I used Pacifica Cardstock from Close to My Heart for the background.

I hope you will come along and play with us this month!

See you soon!
